Man Skills

I hit an interesting web page in doing some research on Man Caves. Popular Mechanics had a list of the top 25 skills every man should know. Looking over the list there aren’t too many difficult skills on it, but I do have to admit that I only had 24 of the 25 skills within my repertoire. On a good note, I did manage to actually perform 21 out of the 25 items. You get to guess which four I have yet to do.

1. Patch a Radiator Hose
2. Protect your Computer
3. Rescue a Boater Who Has Capsized
4. Frame a Wall
5. Retouch a Digital Photo
6. Back Up a Trailer
7. Build a Campfire
8. Fix a Dead Outlet
9. Navigate with a Map and Compass
10. Use a Torque Wrench
11. Sharpen a Knife
12. Perform CPR
13. Fillet a Fish
14. Maneuver a Car Out of a Skid
15. Get a Car Unstuck
16. Back Up Computer Data
17. Paint a Room
18. Mix Concrete
19. Clean a Bolt Action Rifle
20. Change Oil and Filter on a Car
21. Hook Up a HDTV
22. Bleed Brakes
23. Paddle a Canoe
24. Fix a Bike Flat
25. Extend Your Wireless Network

Guys Night

Norm was at work yesterday night. Itchy and Scratchy had friends over, so I invited some of the guys to come on over. The "Man Cave" was in full effect. I had the poker table laid out and there was plenty of pizza and diet coke to go around.

So the poker was fun, we raised some cash for my favorite charity, and the LCD was a big hit. There were several points during the night when Umberto was playing Call of Duty 4 and Eduardo kept saying that he was waiting for the hot babe to walk into the scene as they do during a movie. The picture quality was just that good. I was even impressed as it was the first time that the TV was showcased at 1080p definition.

Lessons learned from last night...
The hand made popcorn didn't turn out as well as I thought it should have. I need to find the popcorn salt that I had at one time... it's the stuff you get when you go to the movies. If anyone knows where to get it... let me know.

I need to put a few candles in the cave, as it seems that some of the bears like to share their odor.

I need to buy a few more HDMI cables for the TV so that I don't need to keep using the same one. Since last night, I ordered two more from mycablemart.com. They have the version 1.3 variety for about $7. That's a great price as they are $60 - $170 at the local big electronic store.

Call of Duty looks awesome. I hear it is a blast to play online.

I need to get the air hockey table out of the basement and bring down the sectional sofa so there is some casual seating. That’s going to have to wait until we order some new furniture for the living room.

I think I’m going to have to post a little more on the subject of “Man Caves.” Stay tuned for those.
