Short Trip

Last week we went up north for a short trip… up north for anyone not living in Michigan means anywhere outside of the southeast Michigan.

This wasn't a vacation... it was meant to be used for the first lawn cutting. Umberto and I spent almost two days chopping, cutting, pruning, trimming, racking, and bagging the yard. Umberto took up the tractor that we had bought for the place and on Saturday we started and ended on Sunday.

When we had some time on Monday, we hauled the new additions to the cottage (Kayaks) to the big lake to launch them. Norm, Itchy and Scratchy had a fun time on them. I spent most of the time flipping on the blanket trying to catch some rays.

Latter that day, we drove across the state to head to our favorite summer place… Michigan’s Adventure... two parks for the price of one… fun fun! We spent Tuesday there having fun and trying out their new roller coaster… Thunderhawk. It’s a good thing that Michigan’s Adventure is adding new rides as it keeps us coming back to Muskegon every year.

The park was even better this year as during the week it’s not that crowded and you can get on a ride real quick. We spent the morning riding all the rides and the afternoon in the water park.

The next day we took Itchy to band camp and dropped her off for two weeks. It’s only been a week and I can’t believe how quiet the house is. Scratchy doesn’t have someone to complain about and there isn’t that general kid sounds that they typically create… You know… music in the background, TV set on, one talking on the phone, the other wanting to know who it is, running one from point a to b, and so on. I hate to say it… ok I won’t say it…. but it’s only one more week.
