Terror Over Detroit

Detroit made international news yesterday as a man tried to blow up a inbound plane into Metro Airport.

The Nigerian born student was severely burned as he tried to ignite the powdery device that was attached to his leg. Several passengers and crew subdued the man as he tried to ignite the device.

The news is not that this happened, but more so how did it happen. He was a engineering student in London and had connections with militant Al Queda connections. He had a one way ticket to Detroit and apparently was given the device while he was in Yemen.

I'm not sure who is doing some of the background checks outside of America, but my kids could have put these dots together to come up with a reason why this guy should not travel to the US on Christmas Day.

Best Buy

I ended the first day of shopping with a stop at Best Buy and they didn't have my first choice of gifts but I did wind up picking up a side cool gift. I still have two stops to do in the morning prior to going to the children's orphanage to finish off this years buying.

Target's

Horrible... they ran out of what I wanted and getting out of parking lot took 20 minutes.

Labels:

Radio Shack

Ran in to pick up a converter for headphones... my phone uses the smaller jack, and the iPod uses the bigger jack.

TJ Max

You get the most out of the minimum at... well at least as far as the line. Yikes and I'm only getting a nut cracker for Norm.

Micro Center

Time to drive across town for some tech shopping. Check out line was unbearable but the "toy" value was good.

CostCo

In and out in under a half hour. I got a few stocking stuffers... success.

Christmas Shopping

I always wait to the Christmas Eve to shop, but this year I have the whole week off so it's off for the FUN! I'm not the kind of guy who just goes out and shops... I do take a few hours in the morning while drinking the morning coffee and shop, then when I go out is mostly buying and not just shopping.

Value Added

Value added is when one does something in a process that adds value to the process. I didn't do any value added work to the orphanage shopping today. It seems that my job was to make sure that we didn't blow the budget. Norm did eventually say that it was a family time for us to all do together. I guess she's right. In the end, we spent 4 hours together and we got the shopping done.

In the next few days, I'll make the delivery.

Rest Time

I took a three week break from working out and it showed today when I went back.  The heart rate was back to where it needs to be (between 140 and 175) and I burned off a ton of calories... well maybe not a ton but 2300 calories is good enough for me.

I always find it amazing after taking off a few weeks, how much stronger my heart feels without getting to stressed.  It must be that giving it time off has rejuvenated it.

Oggs

I'm at the High School today for athlete picture taking.
The cheerleaders just walked in and they all had on those ugly shoes.
