Itchy team finished their basketball season yesterday and they went undefeated. It was the first time the team had ever had a perfect season. I guess PPTPW must have worked as they finished 20 - 0. I remembered a mid season game where they played a rival school. Our coach had graduated from the rival school and told his team that when he played for rival team they would consider our schools teams soft. The team looked at themselves and didn’t know what the term meant. So he had to explain it to them first, but with his team that term didn’t fit as routinely they are diving on the ground fighting for a loose ball or tearing a rebound out of opponent’s hands. He used this as motivation to get the team out of a funk… they came out the second half and pounded the team winning by more then 30.
The part that I regret the most is not being able to be at the game as I had to work late to finish a project that needed to get done. I would have liked to have seen their faces as the clock wound down to 00:00…
Switchfoot is a rock band from San Diego, California. The band's been around since 1996 and they have a power ballad sound which is creaked by the three guitar players that pound out the guitar riffs.
Switchfoot first gained mainstream recognition after the inclusion of four of their songs in the 2002 movie A Walk to Remember. This recognition led to their major label debut, The Beautiful Letdown, which was released in 2003. It went on to sell over 2.6 million copies and produced the band's best-known singles, "Meant to Live" and "Dare You to Move".
According to Jon Foreman, the name "Switchfoot" is a surfing term. "We all love to surf and have been surfing all our lives so to us, the name made sense. To switch your feet means to take a new stance facing the opposite direction. It's about change and movement, a different way of approaching life and music".
Welcome to the planet Welcome to existence Everyone's here Everyone's here Everybody's watching you now Everybody waits for you now What happens next What happens next
(Chorus) I dare you to move I dare you to move I dare you to lift your self up off the floor I dare you to move I dare you to move Like today never happened Today never happened before
Welcome to the fallout Welcome to resistance The tension is here The tension is here Between who you are and who you could be Between how it is and how it should be
(Chorus)
Maybe redemption has stories to tell Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell Where do you look to escape from yourself Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go? Salvation is here
I dare you to move I dare you to move I dare you to lose yourself To lift yourself up off the floor I dare you to move I dare you to move Like today never happened Today never happened Today never happened Today never happened before
Filter is a rock group from Cleveland Ohio. They were formed in 1993 by lead singer and guitarist Richard Patrick.
This song is about Budd Dwyer, who was the Pennsylvania state treasurer. He was tried and found guilty of racketeering, bribery, fraud, and conspiracy. On January 22, 1987, he called a press conference where he pulled out a gun, put it in his mouth, and pulled the trigger. He died instantly as cameras rolled and people in the room screamed. At least one TV station ran the footage on their local news.
I wish I would've met you now it's a little late. what you could've taught me I could've saved some face they think that your early ending was all wrong for the most part they're right but look how they all got strong that's why I say hey man, nice shot what a good shot man. a man has gun hey man have fun nice shot now that the smoke's gone and the air is all clear those who were right there got a new kind of fear you'd fight and you were right but they were just too strong they'd stick it in your face and let you smell what they consider wrong. that's why I say hey man nice shot what a good shot man. a man has gun hey man have fun nice shot, I wish I would've met you I wish I would've met you I'd say nice shot.
We did our part to stimulate the economy yesterday, as Norm and I went to the local car dealership and bought a new car.
As a added bonus the recently passed H.R. 1: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has an amendment in it that gives anyone that buys a new car between 11/12/2008 - 12/31/2009 with an annual gross income of $125k if you're single or $250k if you file jointly a tax deduction for sales tax and car loan interest.
What a great weekend, and the weather was great to boot.
Friday Itchy's basketball team crushed a rival school... they are now undefeated and are routinely beating teams by 30 to 40 points.
Saturday Scratchy's team took the court and won their second game of the year on a last second shot.
I also got a chance to teach the pups all about a car's cooling system as we figured out what was wrong with the Jeep and repaired it... seems that the thermostat was frozen shut.
Saturday night rolled around and a few my friends came over to play a game of D & D. Itchy wanted to play and seemed to like the game.
Sunday, I tried to clean up the mess caused by the previous nights activities and did the grocery shopping for Norm (who wasn't feeling well). Sunday night Ithcy and Scratchy finished their homework. Scratchy finished the week at the AAU basketball practice. Scratchy played well and I got a chance to run a little with them as they where shorthanded.
This three piece band hailing from Devan England have amazingly been around since 1994. They can easily be identified by lead singers Matt Bellamy's falsetto voice and outstanding guitar work. They could be classified as alternative rock with a little techno thrown in for good measure.
Oh baby, don't you know I suffer? Oh baby, can't you hear me moan? You caught me under false pretenses, How long before you let me go?

I thought I was a fool for no one But oh baby, I'm a fool for you You're the Queen of the superficial But how long before you tell the truth?
Oo-ah, you set my soul alight Oo-ah, you set my soul alight Glaciers melting in the dead of night, and the superstars sucked into the supermassive (Oo-ah, you set my soul alight) Glaciers melting in the dead of night, and the superstars sucked into the supermassive (Oo-ah, you set my soul)

ZakkWylde formed Black Label Society in 1998. They are a heavy metal band that is driven by pounding drums and Wylde's guitar. It's no wonder that I like them. I happen to come across them purely by luck. I was playing Guitar Hero World Tour, when Zakk comes on stage and challenged me. After several attempt I finally got past the challenge and played the Stillborn song. I had heard the song a few times on the radio and liked it, but never was able to catch what the band was. I would have never posted this if it wasn't for the game... might need to play some more of the game to see what else is in there.
Stillborn features Ozzy Osbourne as a back up singer, with whom Wylde had worked before as the guitarist of his band. Wylde's own vocal style also became quite similar to Osbourne's for this record, and for a while, debate ran over whether or not Osbourne was actually featured in the song.
Stillborn tells the story of a man whose girlfriend treats him so poorly and takes so much advantage of him that his love for her dies, leaving him feeling dead as well. Wylde insists that it is not autobiographical and that if any girl were to treat him like that, he would simply break up with her.
The video was directed by Rob Zombie, featuring his obvious signature style of blue lighting, zombies, and a regular female cameo, Rob Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie. The idea came together while touring together on Ozzfest.
Wylde has performed an acoustic version of Stillborn that is not only longer but also features a much different sound, following an acoustic solo throughout much of song.
Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh
Blind me Erase what was Stillborn I have become
The feelings I once felt Are now dead and gone I've waited here for you For so very long
So me lt me Just a shell of a man Stillborn
This I understand The feelings I once felt Are now dead and gone I've waited here for you For so very long I've waited here for you So long I've waited here for you For you
(instrumental)
The feelings I once felt Are now dead and gone I've waited here for you For so very long I've waited her for you So long I've waited here for you So long I've waited here for you So long I've waited here for you For you
